Reportage & Commissioned photography.
Reportage style is non traditional free-style photography, Just like the images you see in the newspapers, they capture the moment as events unfold and are not staged images. Most people say they hate posed photos but it is down to the skill of the photographer to make those shots look as natural as possible. The subject/s are normally unaware they have been photographed 'paparazzi' style until they see the proofs but the results can be very pleasing. Reportage style can also be known as photojournalistic, candid and documentary style photography. It requires watching, waiting, and then capturing a moment in time; aware of the action unfolding before us but never causing it to happen. You can find the advantages and disadvantages of all styles of photography on our information page
