Bridal Bonanza-the triple

Trashing the wedding dressGetting married 50+ years ago was very different than today where the bride would go to the studio of the photographer for a few bride and groom portraits, the launch of the portable camera still did not see the wedding photos that are expected of the brides and grooms today as they simply were not possible.

In more recent times,  there was always the film camera and the digital camera, where the photographer would have been limited or limited the service to how many rolls of film, and despite the 35mm 24-30 frame capture, the real professionals used 110 and 120 film to capture the moments and these were 12 frames per roll.

Today’s photographers with digital cameras may seem to have it easy, but thats not really the case, but this post is nothing about how wedding photography has changed.. its about the brides..

Todays Bride wants something a little different that a studio portrait and a few photos of ‘the groups’ in-fact the bride now has become centre stage with her requests from her photographer or photographers.

The bridal photo shoots are now a triple stage of photo shoots:

  • Bridal boudoir  – Sensual and often a gift for the husband to be.
  • The wedding – The general coverage of the wedding photography
  • Trash the dress – Exciting high fashion photography that despite the name doesn’t trash the wedding dress.

Bridal boudoir before the wedding day as a gift

Bridal boudoir became popular in the UK around 3 years ago, it was the ‘done thing’ in the states and filtered through to the UK, in part the reason for this being that ladies were looking for some thing a little different for themselves and then for their boyfriends when it came to portrait photography. The next natural step was of course the bridal boudoir photo shoot. This became a celebrity  show piece and the wedding magazines picked up this growing trend and the rest as they say is history.

Weddings generally remain the same, however; there has been a change in the desired style of photography. The styles of photography have changed over the past 5 years to break into 3 main parts:

One of the growing problems with the professional photography business  is that every dog and its flea’s are trying to get in on the acts and marketing themselves as “Professional Photographer”. This has really been noticeable  since the point and shoot cameras looked more like professional cameras and Auto became the new big thing.

Well you may be thinking  that OK a pro photographer is costly,  and these none professional wedding photographer have some great pictures.. Right??  Well read on..

City Photography

Mian city Photography websiteCity Photography  is a pet project  which we have been running from  early 2009. The idea of the project was linked with National Photographer to bring the photographers together with clients at a local level.
Set up  a little like a directory from the main backbone of City Photography the individual websites are far from  anything like the common “photographer Directory”

City Photography works in a unique way to allow photographers to cut their overheads on advertising which can be very costly in a highly competitive market with single paragraphs with a link to their website costing between £65- £250.  as many photographers spend thousands of pounds to promote another company, the directory.
We think that with the Research and development that has gone into City photography of the last year and also the  number of clients that have grown because of the city photography network just goes to prove our track record and award winning status.
