City Photography
City Photography is a pet project which we have been running from early 2009. The idea of the project was linked with National Photographer to bring the photographers together with clients at a local level.
Set up a little like a directory from the main backbone of City Photography the individual websites are far from anything like the common “photographer Directory”
City Photography works in a unique way to allow photographers to cut their overheads on advertising which can be very costly in a highly competitive market with single paragraphs with a link to their website costing between £65- £250. as many photographers spend thousands of pounds to promote another company, the directory.
We think that with the Research and development that has gone into City photography of the last year and also the number of clients that have grown because of the city photography network just goes to prove our track record and award winning status.
City Photography Offers photographers a unique opportunity to experience the amazing SEO and mapping of the city photography website network, We have kept the websites on a ‘down low’ for some time as the initial launch proved a little too popular and we had clients calling in for all of the launched clone websites.
Current status:
The current status of the City Photography websites are that they are tested and ready to go to the best photographers across the UK. We have left the clones in place as they are semi optimal for keeping the sites’ alive’ so to speak while the photographers become ready in those areas and the new sites are launched over the top of them.
We are reluctant to continue to promote the websites without the photographers to fill the positions across the country, and with some 400 photography jobs available, you can see where we are hesitant to push further with the websites that are outside our local areas.
How to have a City Photography website:
Having a city Photography website means that you will need to keep the website up to date, we manage the sites and do the SEO work and promotion behind closed doors, so that photographers can just supply images and soem words and the rest is done, there is no need to worry about the website as it is all taken care of.
While City is unlike National, we do look for good photographers, and there are three people which look at the applications to decide if the photographer has what it takes to be the front of one of the websites as they represent the company even though they would be independant.
Once the application has been processed and the fees have been paid, the website becomes available to the photographer. We simply tell the photographer what we want from them and then its history untill we want more.
The websites are updated on a regular basis and the photographers are asked to contribute to the city photography blog and there are a few other things that they need to do, but its nothing worth mentioning, aside from selecting the website design that they would like to use for their website.
What is the performance and turn over rate?:
Well that is a valid question that I guess needs an asnwer. The one site that we have put a lot of work into is the gloucester city photography website. As you can see in this google results page http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=gloucester+photography&meta=&aq=f&oq= the site comes up as the third listing.
The website has around 183 visits per month, and the conversion rate is high, On local search result the views are nearer 2,000 with a conversion rate of 10/1
